Dan Lanning to be Honored with 2025 Stallings Award

Dan Lanning, head football coach of the University of Oregon, will receive the 2025 Stallings Award for his remarkable football season, charitable contributions, and community service efforts.This prestigious honor, which recognizes outstanding leadership, character, and achievement in collegiate football, celebrates Coach Lanning’s remarkable contributions to the Oregon Ducks program.

In his first season as Oregon’s head coach, Lanning led the Ducks to an impressive 10-3 record, capped by a dominant victory over North Carolina in the SDCCU Holiday Bowl. His performance marked a historic achievement, making him just the third head coach in Oregon history to win 10 games in his debut season, and the first since Mark Helfrich in 2013. Lanning's success continued into 2023, as he guided the Ducks to a 12-2 record, an appearance in the final Pac-12 Championship Game, and a thrilling win over Liberty in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. In doing so, he became just the second Oregon head coach to win both of his first two bowl game appearances, improving his overall record to 22-5 through his first two seasons at the helm. Now in his third season, Coach Lanning has navigated a period of exciting change for the Ducks. Oregon is embarking on its inaugural season as a member of the Big Ten Conference, under his guidance, the Ducks achieved a 13-0 regular season record, a Big Ten Championship, and a spot in the College Football Playoff, all while maintaining a commitment to excellence, integrity, and community involvement.

 

In its 14th year, The Stallings Award celebrates the values Coach Stallings exemplified throughouthis coaching career – leadership and compassion. Coach Lanning earned this recognition for his remarkable coaching record, dedication to student-athletes, and unwavering commitment to community service. Proceeds from the award go to The Ashford Rise School of Dallas as a tribute to CoachStallings’ late son, Johnny, who was born with Down syndrome. The Ashford Rise School provides the highest quality early education services to children with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities.

 

The Stallings Award will be held on May 6, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.
